Ford Debuts First Film on Amazon Prime

PEKIN, Ill.,–– The annual 24 Hours of Le Mans race was in for a surprise last year. For the first time in 50 years, the Ford GT made its return with a new and improved look. The GT's return mirrored its first victory 50 years ago to the day. Amazon released a documentary entitled "The Return", chronicling the production and victory of this remarkable vehicle. On Saturday, Ford debuts its first film on Amazon Prime, giving viewers the chance to watch this vehicle come to life from start to finish. You can watch this documentary on Amazon Prime as soon as it's available!

Directed by Emmy-award winner Erich Joiner, the documentary follows an intense journey to this once-in-a-lifetime competition to make history. The Ford GT was entered in the oldest endurance race in history for the first time in half a century. The GT's legacy of a 1-2-3 victory in 1966, coupled with advancements of competitive technology, put the pressure on the design and development team of the GT. Joiner's documentary follows the team from start to finish as they piece the vehicle together and enter the competition, bringing history to life with the fresh redesign of the GT.

"As a director and an avid racing enthusiast, I set out to make a passion project of a movie,” said Joiner. “I was able to shoot things that very few people ever get to witness about building a world-class race car and program. And then putting this new car and team up against the best in the world at the Le Mans 24 Hours. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will never forget.”

The Return shows Ford's efforts to challenge itself while also going lengths to honor the GT's storied history. World-class drivers, members of the Ford family, and the GT's design team are interviewed to give viewers exclusive access to this special project. Viewers will get the opportunity to watch the teamwork of every group as they face the trials of creating a supercar and shattering the expectations of the vehicle itself. The documentary features never-before-seen footage of the production and historical elements that played a part in the overall creation of the vehicle. 

Ford's dedication to history and moving forward in the world is highlighted in The Return. Amazon Prime members have the chance to watch Ford debut its first film on Amazon Prime, which will be available on June 24th, 2017. Ford GT in Production for Two More Years

PEKIN, Ill., – Ford has announced that the new Ford GT will be in production for two more years! This is exciting news for fans and applicants, as it gives more potential customers the chance to purchase Ford’s carbon fiber supercar.

The third production year will support applicants who were wait listed. Deferred applicants and others who may have missed the application window will be able to renew or submit their applications in production year four. By continuing GT production, Ford hopes to satisfy their “most loyal Ford ambassadors.”

New Ford GT is the Best Production Vehicle at 2015 NAIAS

Ford Motor Company didn't waste a second of time at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, immediately showcasing a hot new trio of performance vehicles! Surely everyone can agree that the highlight of their presentation was without a doubt, the all-new, ultra-high-performance, Ford GT supercar. 

It only took a mere 24 hours to pass before this bad boy earned an award. The Ford GT was quickly recognized by EyesOn Design as the best production vehicle at the 2015 NAIAS. EyesOn Design are the official design awards for the NAIAS and is responsible for honoring the best production and concept vehicles that make their global debuts at the show. The judges are made up of current and former design leaders from global automakers and transportation departments at top art schools.

Honestly, why wouldn't the new Ford GT be the Best Production Vehicle at the 2015 NAIAS? It is the perfect representation of Ford's commitment to innovation through performance. The GT is an efficient and lightweight supercar, with a 600-plus-horsepower twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. It contains a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle that allows the gears to change almost instantly and helps the driver to maintain exceptional control. 

The GT was perfectly crafted to provide aerodynamic efficiency. Every single slope and shape on the vehicle was strategically designed to minimize drag. Ford even added an active rear spoiler that is keyed to speed and driver input, adjusting its height and/or pitch angle depending on the conditions. We can expect to see the new Ford GT on sale in 2016 with a $250,000 to $300,000 price tag.
