The fire began at an electrical substation in the basement of the building, interrupting power to the entire headquarters, including the Ford Credit office buildings, and one of the main data centers. This particular data center is used to report and track sales. Although there are battery backups in place to ensure no data was lost, the loss of power resulted in the building being shut down for most of the day. This means that Ford was unable to release October sales data on November 1st as planned.
The fire has since been contained. No one was injured. It is expected that the October sales report will be released in the next week.
