Buick Creates Their Own "Sweet Sixteen" Bracket for March Madness

PEKIN, Illi. - Once again, Buick is the main sponsor of one of March's most anticipated events, the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament. This year Buick has decided to try something different and will be partaking in the bracket craze.  Buick has created their own "Sweet Sixteen" bracket for March Madness, which will feature some of the craziest trick-shots to ever grace the internet.

You won't be seeing any college basketball teams on Buick's "Sweet Sixteen" bracket for March Madness, but instead you will meet 16 skilled trick-shot artists competing in a head-to-head showdown. Starting Monday, the tournament will begin online via Buick's website and social media platforms. Three Buick Vehicles Receive KBB Five Year Cost to Own Awards

PEKIN, Illi. - Nicely done, Buick! For the second year running, the automaker came out on top of the annual Kelley Blue Book (KBB) awards for long term vehicle savings and had three Buick vehicles receive KBB "Five-Year Cost to Own" awards. The Buick Verano, Encore, and Enclave each earned an award in the best entry-level luxury vehicle, luxury compact SUV/crossover, and luxury full-size SUV/crossover categories.  

Buick has certainly developed a knack for creating attractive luxury vehicles and for providing consumers with a vehicle that serves as a great long-term investment. Three Buick vehicles received KBB "Five-Year Cost to Own" awards because of their ability to offer customers the lowest projected depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state registration fees. 

To obtain these results, Kelley Blue Book calculated total ownership costs using a specific algorithm with third-party data from owners and consumers. Once the scores came in, it was clear to see that the Buick Verano, Encore, and Enclave were able to save owners significantly more money in the long run over their competitors.

Meet the 2015 Buick Avenir Concept Vehicle

PEKIN, Illi. - The most exciting week of the year for automakers and automotive fanatics is finally upon us. It is time for the 2015 North American International Auto Show! Yesterday at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Buick decided that there was no better time than the present to get the show rolling. The automaker chose to unveil the 2015 Buick Avenir concept vehicle a day early, giving the public a glimpse into the future of Buick sedans.

Meet the 2015 Buick Avenir concept vehicle; a premium, sporty, and expressive sedan that portrays new interpretations of Buick's traditional cues of beauty and presence without pretense. The sedan features a long hood, sloping rear deck, a new modern grille, and a wheels-at-the-corners stance, allowing for short overhangs and cab-rearward proportions. The VP of General Motors Global Design, Ed Welburn, stated that the Buick Avenir perfectly demonstrates the company's growing international reach and offers a vision of where their vehicles are headed in the future. Welburn also mentioned how the Buick Avenir's technology has been seamlessly integrated with the features that have become hallmarks for today's production models. He believes that these technological enhancements will drive a new generation of customers to the Buick brand.

Buick's design inside of the cabin was developed with both the driver and passenger's well-being in mind. The interior surfaces, inspired by nature and sea waves, are covered in rich, premium materials and warm colors. The color palette of the Buick Avenir concept contains light and natural tones, oiled and buffed wood trim, and Galvano satin-chrome accents. The Buick Avenir's cabin also allows for easy management of all of the vehicle's incredible technologies and integrated features.

The Secret Behind the 2015 Buick Verano's Refined Ride

PEKIN, Illi. - When it came to improving the ride quality and lessening the amount of sound heard within the cabin of the 2015 Buick Verano, engineers at General Motors decided to make adjustments starting from the ground up - literally. The Secret Behind the 2015 Buick Verano's Refined Ride? Why, it is the tires. After plenty tweaking and tuning, engineers were able to reduce the amount of noise and create a more enjoyable ride for customers by altering the Buick Verano's tires. 

Tires are a little more complex than one would think. Aside from being large chunks of rubber, the tires are made up of dozens of different components, chemicals and compounds that need to work together perfectly in order to deliver the traction, braking safety, fuel economy, tread life and road manners that today's drivers need. This is a hard combination to come by because when  adjusting the tire to accomplish one attribute, it often conflicts with another. 

So when it came to developing the secret behind the 2015 Buick Verano's Refined Ride, GM engineers needed to be sure that they created a tire that was the ultimate balance of both performance and comfort. After working closely with Continental Tire, Buick was able to create two tire packages for the Verano - a standard 17-inch P225/50R17 and 18-inch P235/45R18. The 17-inch tires forces on delivering low rolling resistance for better fuel economy and the 18-inch are designed to provide exceptional handling and a sportier feel.

Buick's ultimate goal when optimizing a tire is to reduce some cost, complexity or weight some where else within the vehicle while still delivering the ideal level of comfort and capability.
