Aluminum Ford F-150's 700 Lb Weight Loss

PEKIN, Illi. – It's no secret Ford's F-150 was hard at work on its beach bod before it made its debut. By now you have probably heard that the new aluminum Ford F-150 dropped a whopping 700 lbs, much of which comes from the extensive use of aluminum throughout the truck. However, it also slimmed down in a few other areas and Ford just released the inside scoop on just how the F-150 lost so much weight!

Of the aluminum Ford F-150's total 700 pound weight loss, 450 pounds can be attributed to the aluminum body and frame, but the remaining 250 pounds came from all over, interior and exterior – every pound counted. Inside, Ford lightened up by getting rid of any unnecessary weight particularly in the front seat system, rear seat, and dashboard underpinnings. On the outside, additional weight was dropped in the front bumper structure, steering knuckles, magnesium four wheel drive exterior transfer case, mechanical parking break, and in the rear differential. Plus, in areas where the F-150 kept its steel make up, Ford utilized high-strength steel which means they were able to use less of it while maintaining safety, quality, and performance.

Ford and Microsoft Team Up to Launch New Connectivity Services

PEKIN, Illi. - There has been a lot of chatter going on from the automobile and technology markets. Word on the street is that Ford Motor Company and Microsoft are teaming up to launch new connectivity services for future Ford vehicles. After some technical complications with the previous Microsoft system on Ford vehicles, the automaker decided to take action and will work hand in hand with the technology giant to create an incredible connectivity experience for their customers!

Ford and Microsoft are teaming up to launch a new connectivity system to support SYNC 3; Ford's latest infotainment system. This upgraded version of SYNC will run on a cloud-based Azure platform from Microsoft and will help Ford effectively notice how owners of the vehicle use the system and will also them to recognize owner's driving habits. An up and coming feature on SYNC 3 will allow data to be collected wirelessly and processed to detect any mechanical or technical issues within the vehicle. If the system does happen to detect a problem, the software will then notify the driver about any maintenance required for the car. 

With this re-established relationship, Ford will be able to provide their customers with a broader set of connectivity services. SYNC 3 will still use Blackberry's QNX on-board operating system to provide users with a simpler layout, larger fonts, and a touchscreen that can swipe up, down, or across. By the end of 2016, all Ford vehicles in the United States will have switched to SYNC 3 and  all vehicles around the globe will have the new system by 2018. Reports say that SYNC 3 could start appearing on some of Ford Motor Company's 2016 models this year.

PEKIN, Illi. - MartizCX, a customer experience software and research company based in Salt Lake City, recently released reports about the automotive market and which vehicle brand tends to draw in young people when they start car shopping. After surveying almost 1,100 people between the ages of 16-21, results showed that Ford is the number 1 brand that "Generation Z" considers when looking for a new vehicle.  

When Generation Z sets out to purchase a new vehicle, three "must have" elements sit at the top of their list: fuel economy, vehicle design, and vehicle value. At the end of the day, Gen Z wants a vehicle that looks good and that can take them far on one take of gas. Once this study was released, it was very understandable why young drivers gravitate towards Ford vehicles, especially since the brand has recently started to build more and more vehicles prioritized around these attributes. 

Another contributor to Ford being the number 1 brand that Generation Z considers is the automaker's exceptional lineup of small and midsize vehicles. The MartizCX study showed that a majority of Gen Z buyers preferred compact cars like the Ford Focus, midsize sedans like the Fusion, and subcompact cars like the Fiesta, over utility vehicles and trucks. Cadillac Gives Oscar Viewers a Sneak Peek of All-New CT6

PEKIN, Illi. - You may have had to do a double take or even rewind the DVR, but Cadillac did in fact give viewers a sneak peek of the all-new CT6 during the broadcast of the 87th Academy Awards this past Sunday. The spot entitled "The Daring: No Regrets" was one of three all-new Cadillac advertisements that premiered during the Oscars ceremony. The automaker slowly built up the anticipation in the start of the commercial, waiting until almost the very end of the spot to give us all a crystal clear shot of the upcoming CT6 flagship sedan.

Roughly a month before its expected debut at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, Cadillac gave Oscar viewers a sneak peek of the all-new CT6. It was subtle and sleek, you almost didn't realize that it was the LED lights on the Cadillac CT6 that were surfacing from the fog. Right when your mind starts to race with curiosity, it hits you....BAM! The Cadillac CT6 sedan - featuring what appears to be a modernly enhanced body structure - slowly emerges and drives past the camera while Cadillac's "only those who dare drive the world forward" slogan graces the screen.

As quickly as we realized it was happening, the CT6 was gone, now forcing us all to wait patiently for the great unveiling on March 31st. Cadillac said that the sedan uses advanced mixed-material manufacturing techniques and will have an available plug-in electric option that is expected to deliver an industry-leading fuel economy of at least 70 mpg. Customers will be able to enjoy the Cadillac CT6's state-of-the-art technology, efficiency, and performance when it goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Three Buick Vehicles Receive KBB Five Year Cost to Own Awards

PEKIN, Illi. - Nicely done, Buick! For the second year running, the automaker came out on top of the annual Kelley Blue Book (KBB) awards for long term vehicle savings and had three Buick vehicles receive KBB "Five-Year Cost to Own" awards. The Buick Verano, Encore, and Enclave each earned an award in the best entry-level luxury vehicle, luxury compact SUV/crossover, and luxury full-size SUV/crossover categories.  

Buick has certainly developed a knack for creating attractive luxury vehicles and for providing consumers with a vehicle that serves as a great long-term investment. Three Buick vehicles received KBB "Five-Year Cost to Own" awards because of their ability to offer customers the lowest projected depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state registration fees. 

To obtain these results, Kelley Blue Book calculated total ownership costs using a specific algorithm with third-party data from owners and consumers. Once the scores came in, it was clear to see that the Buick Verano, Encore, and Enclave were able to save owners significantly more money in the long run over their competitors.

OnStar RemoteLink Offers Customers New User Experience

PEKIN, Illi. - The 1.3 million OnStar customers using the RemoteLink mobile application have spoken and OnStar was certainly listening. Years of customer feedback helped OnStar optimize their RemoteLink application and offer customers a more intuitive, simpler user experience. 

If you are familiar with the OnStar RemoteLink application, you know first hand that it offers a variety of great features. As usage of the app began to grow throughout 2014 with nearly 7 million total requests, OnStar quickly started to develop enhancements that would improve functionality for their customers. Now after a year of diligent work, OnStar RemoteLink will offer customers a new user experience that allows them to easily navigate and access all of the application's most useful features.

While the updated app still offers remote access to information like vehicle diagnostics, it has additional convenience components including remote start, unlocking/locking of vehicle doors, and a vehicle locate feature that allows drivers to pinpoint the location of their car on a map. There are also several practical additions to the app that OnStar users didn't even realize they needed! Now OnStar RemoteLink can provide users with access to OnStar account details that previously could only be retrieved by phone or OnStar.com, it offers users easy management of data consumption, and it even has the ability to turn WiFi hotspot settings on or off.

Currently OnStar RemoteLink is only offering iPhone and Android customers a new user experience, but it will soon be available for download for Windows Phone and Blackberry users within the next few weeks.
